Talking About STDs

If you don’t, who will?  When it comes to talking about sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) it’s important to remember that by the time you’re ready to broach the subject with your child, there have been dozens of discussion overheard at school.  Kids are exposed to tons of sexual information and innuendos in the media, among friends, and not all of the information is correct or age-appropriate.  This makes it even more important to think about how you can answer questions, provide information and make sure your child is aware of all the many infections that can be shared with sexually exploring or sexually active kids.  You taught them to wear a bike helmet and stay safe.  On to the next step in parent teaching about growing up safe.
