A Primer on Preemies

A Primer on Preemies

Remember the day when the stick turned pink, and you knew the pregnancy test was positive? For some parents, that huge excitement is countered with the tremendous worry that explodes when their baby arrives early. Premature infants are those babies that arrive before 37 weeks gestation, and this teaching sheet is a brief overview of what parents might expect if your baby arrives early. Not every premature infant experiences each of the challenge explained here, but best to be prepared with some background information if your obstetric provider has concerns that your baby might be born early. Our office has the extra level of service needed to coordinate the care of premature infants because we dedicate additional time for every visit to ensure that we meet the needs of growing preemies.
