Lyme Disease
We live in a part of the country known as the Lyme Belt where ticks often carry the bacteria that causes lyme disease so reading up on the infection is something every parent should consider. Being an ‘outdoor kid’ is one of the best ways to stay healthy, and bug bites are part of that experience not just in the summer. Knowing a little about Lyme disease may underscore the importance of prevention as well as early recognition. Ticks carry the bacteria that causes lyme disease and can share that little germ with kids just as easily as with adults. While an outdoor lifestyle is a healthy one for every family, in the summer months, it’s key to check your child daily for ticks. Read more about how to prevent tick bites as well as how to recognize signs of lyme disease.
